Even when you do not visit the raptor birds, you can enjoy the view. but entering the castle and seeng the birds is another step up.

Burg Gutenberg/Gutenberg Castle, is considered one of the last undamaged Staufer castles in Germany. It was founded around 1180, is today over 800 years old and has a correspondingly eventful history. It has always been inhabited and has been completely preserved to this day. It has been owned by the Barons of Gemmingen for over 560 years. Today the castle is the centre of the family estate and one of the most popular excursion destinations in the region, as it has been opened to the public.

A beautiful castle, with a bird of prey observatory, castle museum and restaurant. There is plenty of parking space, entry is cheap, with a bird of prey show on request. The museum is highly recommended, the castle has mega great angles, is very photogenic and mega great location. From the keep you have a great all-round view. Highly Recommended.

A beautiful hilltop castle that was never destroyed. There is a great museum and a birds of prey show. The museum visit takes about 45 minutes.

The castle is located on the eponymous mountain. There you have the opportunity to visit the historical festivals via admission to the museum. The museum is located in a part of the castle and gives an insight into the life of the former residents. A spiral staircase leads to the different floors, each of which shows different exhibits from the past. Information is shared via clearly arranged boards. At the end of the more than 200 steps you can climb the keep and you will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the surrounding area. The adjacent forest is ideal for hiking.

A great castle with very friendly staff. I can only recommend the flight show of the German Greifenwarte. Tickets should be booked online before the visit. Good weather is an advantage as no umbrellas should be opened at the air show.

Very interesting exhibition. Informative and interesting tour. Difficulties for people with limited mobility due to steep spiral staircase. An air show with birds of prey and owls is also highly recommended. The accompanying moderation was very successful. It's worth it.

Nice castle with a great view. Very interesting raptor show with lots of information. Entrance fee for the show and museum (small) more than acceptable (11 euros). We'd love to come back.

Air show with birds of prey. An experience for interested visitors. Complete masquerade all over the site. Even with the show that takes place outdoors. What madness. The organizers can't help it, but it's getting more and more grotesque. Nobody in the cinema has a mask on either - despite the closed room. An unimpaired pleasure again only when the madness is over.

Nicely situated with a pretty good view of the valley. Unfortunately I didn't see a real vantage point. Many years ago I was at a birds of prey show that I can really recommend. There are definitely really exciting animals here ... Parking spaces are right on the mountain next to the castle, great!

After more than 30 years I was back at Guttenberg Castle for a bird show and flight demonstration. Both were a bit disappointing for me. In particular, the flight demonstration was far too lengthy with too little action. You could also tell from the fact that the children present were already restless halfway through the performance (1 / 2h). For me, this is a clear indication that too little is happening. Above all, the time it took until the next bird came was far too long. If you want to see a top flight demonstration, you should (as soon as allowed again) go to the Wildparadies Tripsdrill. The price / performance ratio is also right, which I also see marginally on Guttenberg. Last but not least: the instruction that you should not use plastic or pasta dough drinking straws does NOT belong in an air show with owls and vultures. Something like that is more than superfluous!

A really great sight. Very easy to reach by car and a wonderful view over the Neckar valley. The falconer demonstration is the finest. Beautiful animals in sensational proximity. The tour is also worthwhile. The museum is a good insight into the history of the castle. All in all recommendable.

A really great castle, which lives from its birds of prey and the matching show (very impressive animals) and the rather manageable museum. The museum has been designed with a lot of effort and my highlight was literally the keep. This is completely to climb and offers a great view of Hornberg Castle

Amazing afternoon! Beautiful castle and the birds of prey show was well worth the trip and money spent.

We had a great time exploring the castle and learning about the raptors. They have an amazing variety of birds from all over the world. The flight demonstration was really interesting.

Great bird show! Would definately see that again, the castle itself is quite sober on the inside and maybe less interesting than others nearby. But.... they have an awesome collection of herbariums. 👍

More intact than most of the castles I've visited while hiking the Neckarsteig. An interesting visit though most of the descriptions are only in German. From what I could figure out though this has no connection to Steve Guttenberg or the Police Academy movies.

Fun but hot

Very beautiful and humbling experience. Seeing the historical objects, and hearing the stories about those objects was just amazing. Not to forget the journey to this place, especially in summer, just green, and the road is between a forest....a beautiful forest with fresh air! Makes the walk to the castle enjoyable. The food at the restaurant was soooo delicious. I'm not sure what it's called in German, but I know it was lamb stew with a salad (since I couldn't eat the other sides they offered-health reasons) and you get to add what you like on the salad selection. Which I am grateful for because I am a bit of a picky eater. The lady who showed us around the castle was super amazing!!! And very friendly staff members...they help in English if you struggle. Would recommend to them to have a few English menus for the tourists! Thank you for a beautiful experience.

We attended a wedding here. Food was good, the host was charming, the location authentic and fun.

The bird show is a must see if your in the area. Presented in multiple languages for full enjoyment

Great visit. Remember you have to eat outside, and I would just leave the stroller. You can't take them into the bird arena and there is absolutely no room for them in the museum. We were advised to go on a warm day to see the birds fly more (wind and thermals), but it was still enjoyable.

Incredibly well preserved castle in the lower Neckar, built in the 15th century and never destroyed, it houses an excellent museum, views of the surrounding countryside and other activities.
